Adult Summer Sunday School Discussion Group
 Many folks are around from time-to-time if not every Sunday so we have a schedule of lessons that stand on their own.  You can choose to attend any one or two or all six.  We will meet on the Sundays listed below in the Mill Creek Room.  We’ll start promptly at 8:45 a.m. and end at 9:45 a.m.  Our resource will be a book entitled Devotional Classics edited by Richard J. Foster and James Bryan Smith.  Prior to each class, we encourage you to read the selection and its associated Bible passages.

The materials for those who don't have the books will be available each Sunday (for the following week) in the Narthex. 

August 1  The Prayer-Filled Life  (Thomas Merton)
August 8  The Virtuous Life  (Blaise Pascal)
August 15  The Sacramental Life  (Kathleen Norris)

Youth Fellowship is going to play Laser Tag!
Anyone in grades 6-12 please plan to join us on August 3rd.  We will meet at the church at 5:30 pm and travel to Grand Slam in Malvern.  Stay tuned for more details!

Summer Sermon Series
At the beginning of July we started a journey through the book of Galatians in Sunday morning worship.  Pastors James and Nan along with Sturge Poorman,
Parish Associate, are exploring what ‘freedom in Christ’ meant to the ancients
and what it looks like for us today.  Please plan to join us Sundays at 10:00 am.

“For you were called to freedom, brothers and sisters; only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for self-indulgence, but through love become slaves to one another.”

Summer Reading at APC
On selected Thursdays this summer, a small cadre of readers will gather for lunch to discuss The Violence of Love by Oscar Romero.  The book contains selections from sermons and writings by the Roman Catholic Archbishop of San Salvador, martyred in 1980.  Romero witnessed to a faith in Jesus Christ that spoke forcefully against injustices, no matter the party or the source.  The group is highly participatory.  Your thoughts and discussion are always welcome.  We will be meeting on August 5, 26, September 2, and 9 at noon.  Contact the church office for more information.

ONGOING OPPORTUNITIES

Build-It Bus volunteers needed. Volunteers work with Sherina Poorman to help students learn important and rewarding life skills. This year kids will take a basic woodworking course, enjoy a silk screen shop, a magic trick shop and a sewing shop at schools in West Philly as Part of WePAC (West Philadelphia Alliance for Children). More and more folks are stopping by the Ardmore Community Food Cupboard housed at APC. All non-perishable goods are welcome. Especially needed supplies are: pasta/spaghetti, tuna (in water), pasta sauce, canned vegetables: corn, peas, string beans, canned fruit: peaches & pears.  Paper bags with handles would be useful as well!  Please leave items in the narthex on Sundays or in the church office.  Thank you for being a part of this vital ministry to our community! Our food cupboard is open to any in the surrounding area who for whatever reason are not able to get through the month on the resources they have. Some folks who come to the food cupboard are referred to us by ElderNet or other social service agencies. Thank you for being a part of this vital ministry to our community!

FITNESS CLASSES AT APC: Fit to Move, for all ages, meets Mondays and Wednesdays at 9:30 a.m. (Mill Creek Room); Pilates meets Tuesdays at Noon and Thursdays at 9 a.m. (Mill Creek Room).  Contact Elizabeth Luff at 610-896-6803.
